Bao'an District police in Shenzhen have launched a free escort service for people needing to withdraw large amounts of cash from banks, reports Southern Metropolis News.

Police are now in talks with banks about advertising the service inside bank outlets.

Even business entities do not use escort services when taking large sums of cash out of banks, which are "golden opportunities" for criminals, according to a police study.

The free service is a win-win solution that serves the public while helping reduce police work in the long run, said a police official.

During a trial operation at the Gongming Police Station, the number of robbery cases in its jurisdiction witnessed a marked decrease.
