Training dogs to behave themselves ( 2003-08-19 10:44) (China Daily)
An introductory class for pet dogs, providing basic instruction in such areas
as potty training and not biting people, is now being offered at a new obedience
school, reports Shanghai Youth Daily.
Intermediate classes, meanwhile, will provide further training in special
skills, such as dancing and jumping through hoops. At the highest level,
professional performing skills will be taught.
Potential student dogs are to be interviewed by the school's teachers first
before they will be recruited. Some restrictions, such as age, are also taken
into account.
An entire training programme lasts 40 days, with prices for the different
classes ranging from 1,800 to 6,000 yuan (US$217-723).
If the dogs still cannot do the things they are taught by the end of the
"semester", they must remain in school until they master the
skills.
