A young woman who jumped onto a metro track and became trapped between the train and some advertising signs inside the tunnel brought Metro Line No 1 to a standstill for 8 minutes on Sunday afternoon, reports Shanghai Morning Post.

Witnesses said the 20-something woman jumped onto the tracks as the train pulled in and gradually slowed down.

The woman quickly ran towards two billboards opposite the platform, then attempted to climb up again by stepping on an electrical wire. The driver braked immediately, but the woman became trapped anyway.

A security guard eventually pulled the woman up from the tracks and she was led away by the metro police. The reason why she jumped is not known.
