Woman from China becomes US citizen on 100th birthday
( 2003-08-18 16:31) (Agencies)

A day after she turned 100 years old, a woman from China became a US citizen.
Mei-Fen Yeh, a native of Hangzhou, China, took the oath of citizenship Sunday with her 16-year-old granddaughter translating.

It was the culmination of a 10-year project for her family, who helped her learn enough American history and English to pass the citizenship test.

Yeh said she had many reasons for becoming an American citizen, including she thinks Americans are very friendly and she likes the weather. She also said it would make her traveling back to China a lot easier.
