China to conduct global search for SOE executives ( 2003-08-16 17:08) (Xinhua)
A senior official in charge of China's state assets has said a global search
for senior executives for six large state-owned enterprises (SOEs) would start
in the second half of this year.
Li Yizhong, deputy director of the State Asset Supervision and Administration
Commission (SASAC), said the practice would gradually spread to other
state-owned enterprises.
"This is the orientation of our leadership restructuring at state-owned
enterprises. We believe state-owned companies must absorb the most outstanding
talents from around the world to become strong players on the international
market," said Li.
Seven senior executive positions at these six enterprises have been selected
for the experiment, the highest being deputy general manager of an enterprise
group.
