Small eateries ordered to close ( 2003-08-15 11:20) (China Daily)
The increasing number of food poisoning cases in the city has led the local
health bureau to announce that all small eateries, meaning those inhabiting less
than 50 square metres of commercial space, will be shut down by the end of the
year, Shanghai Morning Post reports.
Four incidents of food poisoning were reported in August alone, each of which
affected more than 10 people. Most of the cases were traced to substandard boxed
lunches.
