Ambulance accused of dumping patient ( 2003-08-14 10:47) (China Daily)
A man who was allegedly dragged out of an ambulance and left on a street in
Baotou, Inner Mongolia, died before police arrived to attend to him an hour
later, reports Xinhuanet.com yesterday.
The migrant worker was found trembling at a market on the morning of July 29.
After someone called the municipal emergency medical unit, an ambulance was
dispatched to pick him up, but instead dropped him off again in front of a
garbage recycling station at noon, witnesses said.
But a spokesman for the emergency treatment centre of the First Affiliated
Hospital of Baotou Medical College said the man had demanded to be taken home
after a routine examination showed he was fine.
The municipal government is looking into the case, which has reportedly
stirred public discontent.
