Personal income tax grows fastest ( 2003-08-14 10:38) (China Daily)
Guangdong collected a total of 11.54 billion yuan (US$1.39 billion) in
personal income taxes between January and July, 24.5 per cent higher than for
the same period last year, reports Nanfang Daily.
While the province continues to lead the country in terms of personal income
tax, it also registered the fastest growth among all tax items, according to the
Guangdong Provincial Local Tax Bureau. More than 80 per cent of the personal
income taxes collected came from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other Pearl River Delta
cities.
And about 25 per cent were paid by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents and
expatriates.
