Fabricated theft 'reason' for firing ( 2003-08-13 11:43) (China Daily)
A delicatessen worker whose employer accused her of a theft that never
occurred sought justice from police, reports Beijing Evening News.
The outraged woman stopped a patrol car before the shop in Tongzhou one day
last week and told police that her employer was about to fire her and withhold
her due salary on fabricated charges that she had stolen 100 yuan (US$12) from
the shop's till.
At the sight of policemen in his shop, the employer confessed that he had
made up the accusation because he intended to fire the woman but could find no
fitting reason to back up his decision as she had been a good worker.
Police lectured him on his wrongdoing, then made him apologize to the woman
and pay her rightful wages. `
