Curtains or not? That's the question ( 2003-08-12 10:56) (China Daily)
Companies in Zhuhai have been urged to affix curtains to bus windows to block
out the ruthless rays of the summer sun.
Buses often operate "half empty" these days, with seats on the sunny side of
the vehicles sitting vacant while passengers pack into the shady seats.
When buses are really crowded, some passengers resort to using umbrellas
inside to shade themselves, reports Guangzhou Daily.
The buses have no curtains because many passengers like to view the scenery
or need to look out for their stops, said an official with the Bus Companies.
"We are in no mood to appreciate the scenery in hot weather," said Xu, a
passenger. Since most buses have audio systems announcing stops
automatically, it should not be difficult to figure out where to get off, said
Zhang, another passenger.
