Intoxicated thief dozes on the job ( 2003-08-08 13:19) (China Daily)
A burglar who could not resist sampling various wines for sale at a snack
shop he had broken into fell into the hands of the police after falling into a
sound sleep in the store on Wednesday night, reports Beijing Times.
Ning, from Henan Province, was found at 7:30 am snoozing in a chair and
wearing a shop assistant's uniform in the store near Ping'an Street.
After explaining that he had come to Beijing looking for but failing to find
work, Ning confessed that he had intended to steal money from the store but
decided to try some of the wine first.
He ended up drinking a dozen 250-gram bottles of Heijialun, four of Erguotou
and one of Redstar wine, according to a store employee.
Ning fell into another deep sleep at the police station and did not wake up
again until the next morning.
