Care for premature quadruplets costly ( 2003-08-01 13:35) (China Daily)
The parents of quadruplets born in Shanghai last week have used up their
savings paying for the medical care of the premature babies, who are still in
incubators in hospital.
The Shanghai Morning Post reports that the first week in hospital cost the
parents 80,000 (US$12,000) yuan.
The first donation from a private company of four boxes of powdered milk
could not be fed to the infants, who are kept alive with intravenous
nourishment.
The father said they had not yet thought about names for the children because
they are not sure whether the infants will survive if they can no longer afford
to pay for further treatment.
