China names squad for Real Madrid friendly

Former Chinese national coach Nian Weisi will manage a 31-member squad for a friendly with the flamboyant Real Madrid here next month.

Nian, one of China's most respected football coach, has been named general coach of the squad, while another former national coach Qi Wusheng and Zhu Guanghu will be joint head coaches.

Qi and Zhu are head coaches of Chinese first division sides Yunnan and Shenzhen respectively.

League leaders Shanghai Zhongyuan's head coach Cheng Yaodong and Qi's Yunnan Assistant Li Hui were also selected into the coaching staff.

"It is a great honor for all the coaches to play against Real Madrid, who is one of the most famous football clubs in the world," Qi said.

He added: "We'll value this opportunity to learn the world's best football skills and tactics with Real Madrid. "

The hosts will play the match in the Worker's Stadium on Aug. 2.

The squad was made up of 31 players from four first division clubs -- Shenzhen, Yunnan, Shanghai Zhongyuan, Beijing.

Goalkeepers: Sun Gang, Xiao Jianjia (Shenzhen); Ou Chuliang (Yunnan); Jiangjin (Shanghai Zhongyuan)

Defenders: Zheng Bin, Li Weifeng, Liu Jian, Yuan Lin (Shenzhen); Wei Qun, Wang Xiao, Qu Dong (Yunnan); Li Ming, Wu Chengying (Shanghai Zhongyuan); Yang Pu, Xu Yunlong, Tao Wei (Beijing)

Midfielders: Zheng Zhi, Li Jianhua (Shenzhen); Zhou Ting, Zhu Guanghui, Huo Zhiyu, Liu Yue (Yunnan); Qi Hong, Shen Si, Li Yan (Shanghai Zhongyuan)

Strikers: Li Yi, Yang Chen (Shenzhen); Sun Zhi (Yunnan); Shen Han (Shanghai Zhongyuan); Shang Yi, Gao Feng (Beijing)
