Central China province makes profitable oil business
( 2003-07-12 10:08) (Xinhua)

The Hunan Petroleum Company in central-south China sold 1.5 million tons of finished petroleum products in the first half of this year, making a profit of 320 million yuan (US$38.5 million).

The company, which is subordinate to the China Petrochemical Group (Sinopec), has worked hard to increase retail sales and has set up a comprehensive retail network in vast rural areas and along expressways.

Statistics show that the provincial petroleum company put 65 new gas stations into operation in the first half of this year and built another 35.

In addition, the company has purchased and co-managed 306 gas stations throughout the province.
