China resumes outbound tourism on Wednesday ( 2003-07-10 10:39) (Xinhua)
The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) announced in Beijing
Wednesday plans to resume cross provincial and outbound tourism immediately.
Restrictions on inbound, outbound and domestic tourism because of the severe
acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) have been dropped.
Outbound tourism destinations for CNTA tour groups are limited to 22 approved
nations, such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia and
Malta. Tourist groups can also travel to Hong Kong and Macao.
By the end of July 8, only Vietnam, Brunei and The Maldives had restrictions
for inbound Chinese citizens.
