Vice Premier: SARS prevention must continue
( 2003-06-27 10:43) (Xinhua)

Vice Premier Wu Yi called for continuing strong efforts to consolidate the progress made during the fight against the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) at a conference held Thursday in Beijing.

The China national anti-SARS headquarters has issued a circular containing new regulations which effectively standardize prevention measures throughout the country. These regulations should be implemented to the letter, said Wu, also the headquarters' chief official.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday removed Beijing from its list of SARS-infected areas and lifted its travel advisory against the city, marking the triumph of Beijing's anti- SARS campaign, said the official, adding that preventive work throughout the country should continue.

The headquarters will soon dispatch some 15 groups to inspect SARS prevention work in all provinces and areas throughout the nation.
