The Ethiopian National Committee on the Prevention and Control of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has announced that preparations are being made to effectively prevent and control the disease in the African country. Efforts are underway to supply medicines and necessary tools required to prevent and control SARS, the Ethiopian Health Ministry was quoted by local media as saying on Tuesday.
ĦĦĦĦThe ministry said that a demand for the supply of N-95 masks has been accepted by the US embassy in Ethiopia and an operationaldirective for the treatment of patients has been formulated.
The ministry has urged travelers to suspend journeys, unless onessential business, to some Asian countries until further notification is provided about SARS.
People who have symptoms of the disease like fever, dry cough and respiratory disturbances or those who return from the reportedregion and show the above-mentioned symptoms should report their cases to the ministry or regional health bureaus, the ministry said.
No SARS case has been reported in Ethiopia so far.
