Six die in south China expressway accident A child and a pregnant woman were among six people killed in an expressway crash on Tuesday in south China's Guangdong Province. More than 20 people were injured in the accident at 12:30 p.m. on the Shenzhen-Huizhou expressway, a major trunk route in the province. Eight of the injured are in a serious condition and three have life-threatening injuries. All are being treated in local hospitals. According to survivors, the accident may have been caused by brake failure on a bus, although the driver appeared to have braked before his vehicle ran into the rear of a container trailer. The first four rows of seats in the bus were reduced to twisted iron bars. Two people, one pregnant, died in the Huizhou People's Central Hospital. |
