Explosion at civilian house kills 8

An explosion at a civilian house in north China's Shanxi Province Wednesday morning killed eight people and injured another eight.

Preliminary investigation showed the explosion, which occurred in Tangxing Township of Yicheng County, was caused by illegally hoarded explosives and detonators accidentally catching fire.

The injured people have been rushed to local hospitals.

The explosion occurred at around 3:30 in the morning. It destroyed almost all houses within a radius of 100 meters.

County officials have rushed to the scene of the accident. Cause of the accident is still under further investigation.
