Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks in Beijing on Monday with Abbas Arabi Abdalla, chief of staff of the Sudanese armed forces.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China and Sudan had conducted fruitful cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1959.

He expressed gratitude for the adherence of the Sudanese government to the One China policy.

Fu said that he was satisfied with the military relations between China and Sudan, referring to the frequent exchange of visits of the military leaders.

With concerted efforts of the two sides, the friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries would surely be deepened, Fu said.

Abbas Arabi Abdalla said that Sudan attached importance to relations with China and its armed forces, and his on-going visit would push forward military cooperation.

He reaffirmed the Sudanese government's adherence to the One China policy, and its support for China on human rights and anti- terrorism issues.
