Roma captain Francesco Totti urged his Lazio counterpart Alessandro Nesta to quit the city on Monday.

"I hope he can find another club because if his situation remains as it is, it will become very difficult for him."

Nesta was substituted during Roma's 5-1 drubbing of Lazio after a nightmare first half in which he was at fault for Roma's first three goals.

The Italy defender admitted it was one of the worst nights of his career.

Totti told the Italian news agency ANSA he was happy with the victory but upset for Nesta whom he described as a great friend.

Last week Lazio coach Alberto Zaccheroni said that it would be almost impossible for the club to keep Nesta if they failed to reach next season's Champions League.

Nesta has been the subject of interest from Juventus and Manchester United in the last week.

Lazio face Brescia in Serie A on Sunday.
