Bus, Truck collision kills 14 in SW China

On Monday at 17:50 a bus collided with a truck causing the death of 14 elderly people and injuring seven in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The collision occurred at cross-roads in Chengjiang County which is near Yuxi City in central Yunnan.

The truck turned upside down, but the driver was only slightly injured. The bus was badly damaged with 13 passengers dying the same day and one the next day in hospital.

Officials with local government and traffic departments had made urgent rescue attempts soon after the collision occurred.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
