Bomb blast kills one in eastern Siberia ahead of local elections ( 2001-12-22 09:32 ) (7 ) One man was killed and another wounded when a bomb exploded in a polling station in the eastern Siberian town of Krasnoyarsk on Friday, two days before local elections, NTV television reported in Moscow. Earlier Friday, another bomb exploded in a water pipe above the apartment of businessman Pavel Struganov, a candidate for the post of deputy in the local parliament, it said. There were no reports of casulaties from that blast. Struganov, nicknamed "Pasha the Musical," is known as one of the leaders of the local mafia. Former Siberan aluminium baron Anatoly Bykov was arrested last year accused of ordering the assassination of Struganov, his former business partner.
