By providing uniform registration forms and contracts, the centre aims to regulate the disorderly market of property agents. The online centre has drawn 13 agency companies whose business accounts for over 20 per cent of the total market. Insurance jobs China Insurance International Holdings (CIIH), a HK-listed company, will recruit over 100 senior managerial staff all over the country for recovery of its property and life insurance businesses on the mainland, hopefully in October. China Insurance Group, parent company of CIIH, started insurance business in 1929 but ceased operations in the mainland in 1949. Shipyard credit Pudong Development Bank Corp has signed agreements with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard Co Ltd (SWSC) to provide the latter with a 300-million-yuan (US$36 million) credit line as well as such financial services as settlement. SWSC has received an order to make four 175,000-ton non-container ships. Active Capitaland Capitaland of Singapore has launched its Capital and China Holding Group in Shanghai to push forward its business in China. Capitaland has been active in the Chinese market, with investment amounting to more than 5 billion yuan (US$600 million), 70 per cent of which was put into Shanghai to build residential and commercial properties. Housing forum Developers and experts in the field of real estate gathered in Shanghai over the weekend for a forum on the theme, The Residence Alters the Future. They raised and exchanged ideas about problems such as layout, greening and sustainable development for the real estate industry. They held a midnight peak summit and signed a contract to build Shanghai into a most pleasant city for human beings in the 21st Century. AMD expansion Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a leading US global supplier of integrated circuits, is seeking expansion on the Shanghai market by promoting its multiprocessor. AMD has joined forces with Tyan Computer Corp, a leading designer and manufacturer of Internet infrastructure products, to press forward its market strategy in Shanghai. German flair The German firm Grohe has pledged to enlarge its Shanghai operations by attending a 3-day international kitchen and bathroom facilities exhibition at Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 3. A Grohe manager said the local market is competitive but has great potential. Air-con fair The first professional fair concerning air-conditioning, heating ventilation, filtration and building automation will be held at the Shanghai International Exhibition Centre on July 3. The 5-day exhibition is organized by HQ Link Pte Ltd, a leading Singapore-based company in the business. A total of 280 participants from 27 countries and regions will bring their technologies as well as products to the fair. Top supplier Delphi Packard Electric (Shanghai) Co Ltd won General Motors Corp's 2000 top supplier award for the fourth consecutive year, Delphi Automotive Systems Corp announced. As the primary supplier of vehicle wiring harnesses for products of domestic automakers, Shanghai Delphi Packard was selected for the award by a global team of executives from GM's purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics sectors. Fewer than 5 per cent of GM's suppliers worldwide were honoured with the award.
