Oasis star `Go back to London' - Backstreet Boys
( 2001-05-11 15:37 ) (7 )

US band Backstreet Boys on Thursday brushed aside a jibe by Oasis star Noel Gallagher that they "can't sing, can't play, can't dance," and said the British guitarist should "go back to London."

"His opinion doesn't mean anything to us," Kevin Richardson told a news conference in Caracas, where the popular five-member band from Florida were due to give two concerts over the weekend.

Backstreet Boys were asked about scathing comments made about them by Gallagher in January, when he called their songs "rubbish" and said they "should be shot."

"He should just go back to London," Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean retorted Thursday.

Richardson said of Gallagher: "When Oasis came and performed at the MTV awards in the United States ... he was spitting on the stage and it looked like he was all strung out on something."

"The only thing that matters for us is if we're happy with our music and if our fans are happy," he added. Band members Brian Litrell, Howie D. Dorough and Nick Carter also attended the news conference.

The American band, who played in the western Venezuelan oil city of Maracaibo on Wednesday, have already visited Mexico, Argentina and Brazil and were due to perform in Panama and Puerto Rico in their Latin American tour.
