XJTU begins lecture series on language and literature
A lecture series on language and literature of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) began at Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor Wisdom Uni-town on Nov 9, with more than 700 people attending.

In his speech, Zheng Qinghua, vice president of XJTU, said that international exchanges, especially cultural exchanges, are an important part of the university's progress towards becoming a world-class university. Zheng also noted that Chinese civilization has gradually formed an open and inclusive system, in which the role of language and literature cannot be ignored.

Feng Zongxin, a professor of Tsinghua University, and Yang Ruying, a professor of XJTU, gave lectures entitled "Mathematician's Fairy Tales: Alice in Wonderland" and "Where Does Language Come From" respectively.

Mvoenya Humphrey Milanoile, an international student studying at the School of Energy and Power Engineering of XJTU, is learning Chinese. By listening to the lectures, he said that he felt the great influence of language and literature on the development of human society.
Divided into 10 parts, the lecture series will last until Dec 7, and will be broadcast online on the live platform of XJTU.
