Xidian University must rev up for further contribution
Xidian University must make efforts to improve its academic competence and cultivate talents to contribute to Shaanxi’s development, according to Hu Heping, secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee.
Xidian University, headquartered in Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi province in Northwest China, celebrated its 60th anniversary of relocation on Oct 30.
At the celebration ceremony, Hu spoke highly of the university’s merits in serving the people and cultivating talents and affirmed its contribution to informationization and modernization of national defense.
He said that the university has become an important base for talent cultivation in the electronic information field in China for the past 60 years and has encouraged a revving-up of support for education in the province.
The predecessor of the school was a radio school established by the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China in 1931 in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province.
It was also the birthplace of such disciplines as radar, information theory, cryptography, electronic countermeasures and microwave antennas in China.
Also attending the event was Zheng Xiaojing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Party secretary of the university.
She pointed out that Xidian University should strive to be among the world's first-class universities with distinctive features by 2049.
