University regains medical science study
The Department of Life Science and Medicine of Northwest University was established on May 22, restoring the school in the field of medical science research and education.
According to Guo Lihong, president of the university, the school started medical science research and education early last century and its medical college was incorporated into Xi'an Jiaotong University because of the adjustment of universities in China in 2000.
"It has been our dream to restore medical science education and research," Guo said.
He added the university signed an agreement to jointly build the department of Life Science and Medicine with the government of Xi'an city on April 23, which indicates that the study of medical science could be reinstated at Northwest University.
The newly-established department will both promote the development of the school and the progress of the local medical industry and healthcare service.
Northwest University, headquartered in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province in Northwest China, has a history of 116 years and is one of the top comprehensive universities in China's western region.
