China says education does not end in the classroom
BEIJING - Chinese authorities have pledged to give greater support and guidance for families and reminded parents that education does not end in the classroom.
Nine Chinese authorities and organizations including the ministries of education and culture and the China Association for Science and Technology on Monday published a five-year plan on home learning environments for the2016-2020 period.
The plan vowed to improve the support network for family education, incorporate new media and increase financial investment.
According to the plan, "parent schools" will be established in 90 percent of kindergartens, primary and middle schools in cities, and in 80 percent of rural schools.
The plan also put forward a proposal for an online family education information sharing system, which would support the implementation of legislation.
