Meixi Lake International Area has started construction and more than 1.1 billion yuan ($ 175 million) has been invested since March 2009. The 200 hectare lake started to retain water since June 2011 and will finish retaining by September of 2012. Other projects, such as the island, dock, buildings, flowers and music fountain will be completed and put into use in September 2012.

The touring activities are mainly held on the south bank of the lake and will show people a variety of public-participation performances.
The Light-up ceremony with a large-scale laser will show a set of light shapes with high-tech creativity. The fireworks will also be a grand sight to see.
