Zhangjiajie specialty: Tujia brocade

Tujia brocade is produced in Tujia and the Miao Autonomous Prefecture in the western Hunan province and exhibits a long history. It is a product developed by ethnic Chinese minorities.

The brocade is called Dahua among the people and is traditionally used as a blanket. Processed with silk yarn, cotton yarn and woolen yarn, the Tujia brocade is woven with an ancient diagonal weaving machine. This is done by tying warps to the weaver’s waist watch both sides of the weave.
