To the east of Yanling county, the Shennong Valley National Forest Park is a natural reserve with 90 percent forest coverage. The park is a gene bank of rare natural animals and plants. It acquired its name Shennong (also called Emperor Yan) Valley Park because it is close to the mausoleum of Emperor Yan.

Covering an area over 100 square kilometers, the park has hundreds of peaks, including the highest one in Hunan Province- Shennong Peak (2122.35 meters above sea level). The main tourist attractions in the forest park include the Pear Curtain Waterfall which contains the most abundant negative oxygen ions in Asia.

Other attractions are the Shennong Flying Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Hunan, and the primeval forest with an area of 6,666 hectares, the only primeval forest at the confluence of the east, south and central China. Taking a tour to the Shennong Valley National Forest Park, tourists will find everything fresh and new, and feel rejuvenated.
