On Dec 14, 2011, the experience exchange and training session on Japan's energy conservation ended in Changsha, Hunan province. Japanese experts gave lectures at the session and over 300 concerned people attended the session.

The Japanese experts gave detailed explanations and instructions on the latest energy saving technologies in Japan, the energy management systems, the energy management in enterprises and the effective use of energy. The participants benefited from the case analysis, diagnostic examination over factory's use of energy, and the formulation of an energy saving report.

Miao Chenguang, director of the Changsha energy department, said that during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), energy consumption per unit of GDP (tons of standard coal/ ten thousand yuan) dropped from 1.030 (2005) to 0.826 (2010) in Changsha. This ranked eighth across the country, however, leaves much to be desired when compared to Japan.
