State council imposes national strategy on Hunan

The State Council gave its approval to the southern Hunan national demonstration area for undertaking an industrial transfer and its project of poverty alleviation and development of the Wuling Mountain Area.

Three economic blocks have become the pivots for Hunan's development. These are the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) city cluster, Xiangnan (South Hunan area) and Great Xiangxi (West Hunan area), covering all the cities and the prefecture across the province. The approval marked Hunan's cities and prefectures as being enhanced to a height of national strategy in China.

With the introduction of the intensive revitalization plans for economic development in central and western China, unprecedented opportunities have been staged. The division of three blocks changes the previous administrative development strategy into the strategy driven by central cities. Increasing the development of the three blocks to the level of national strategy also allows Hunan to carry out pilot reforms with more supports from the central government
