Changsha sets out economic and social goals for 2012

Zhang Jianfei, mayor of Changsha delivered a government work report at the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth Changsha Municipal People's Congress held on the morning of Jan 6, 2012. This was at Changsha People's Hall and set out the city's economic and social goals for 2012.
In 2012, Changsha aims to increase GDP by 13 percent, fiscal revenue by 15 percent, fixed assets investment by 20 percent, total retail sales of consumer goods by 18 percent, and annual disposable income per capita for urban and rural residents by 12 and 14 percent. It will cut comprehensive energy consumption per GDP by 3.5 percent, and fulfill the emission-reducing tasks assigned by the provincial government concerning chemical oxygen demand, sulfur dioxide, ammonia nitrogen, nitric oxide, and other pollutants. It will bring down the registered unemployment rate in cities and towns and the natural growth rate of population to within 4 percent and 6.9 per thousand.
