Zhuzhou to transform itself into "National Forest City"

According to the Working Conference on Forestry that Zhuzhou city held on Jan 13, 220 million yuan will fund the afforestation of 13,000 hectares of land. There will be 26,000 hectares of young, middle-aged plantations and low-yielding forest land transformations.

Forest conservation will account for 33,000 hectares. It will ensure a forest coverage rate of more than 61.53 percent and a gross output of over 10 billion yuan.

An integrated arrangement is to be made to propel greening in urban and rural areas in Zhuzhou this year. This includes improving the quarantine of plants, protecting wildlife resources, preventing wildlife epidemic diseases and enhancing fire prevention as well as pest control.

In addition to developing pillar industries such as wood processing, forest chemical, flower seedling, forest tourism and tea-oil tree, the city will also exert efforts to promote the forestry economy by attracting investment and facilitating the construction of related projects.
