Flood warning system set up
China's water authority introduced overseas advanced flood management solutions on Thursday to try to prevent its second-longest waterway from flood disasters.
An early warning information system on flood prevention will be developed by the Yellow River Conservancy Commission under the Ministry of Water Resources and Zurich-based AGT International.
The advanced technology is expected to forecast potential risks to embankments and reservoirs, as well as predict possible times and locations of floods, according to the news release.
Hunan
Bus slams into toll booth
Three people died and 24 were injured when a bus crashed into a toll booth on a highway in Central China's Hunan province on Friday, the local government said.
The bus, with a license plate from neighboring Hubei province, overturned after crashing into the Lingang Toll Booth on State Highway 207 in Linli county at 4:10 am, the county government said in a news release.
Most of the victims had been on the bus, but at least one toll booth worker was injured.
Traffic police at the scene said the crash might have been caused by driver fatigue and fog.
Flights begin to scenic city
Regular flights between Seoul and Zhangjiajie, a well-known scenic spot in Central China's Hunan province, have been launched with the first flight taking 177 tourists to the city on Thursday.
The two-and-half-hour flight by Asiana Airlines was also the first regular international flight in Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport.
Previous regular flights were only available between Seoul and Changsha, the provincial capital, which is still five and a half hours by bus from Zhangjiajie.
Gansu
Great Wall repair work started
The government of Jiayuguan in Northwest China's Gansu province on Friday began a repair and construction project on the western end of China's Great Wall on Friday.
Repairs will be made on sections of the Great Wall in the city of Jiayuguan, including the Jiayu Pass - the starting point of a section of the wall constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The project, which will include the construction of a world cultural heritage theme park and a heritage inspection center, will cost 2.03 billion yuan ($317 million), mostly financed by the central government.
