A native of Jiangsu province, Wang Jin has been living in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, for nearly 16 years since she was admitted to the high school affiliated to the China Academy of Art.
Her paintings do not focus on picturesque sites that tourists in the city are familiar with.
Rather, the 31-year-old artist depicts parts of Hangzhou that demonstrate its residents' day-to-day life, such as a cafe, an office building or a crossroad.
Her solo exhibition, now on at Beijing's Xindong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art through Sept 21, shows dozens of oil works that are inspired by Hangzhou.
Through Beyond City she especially portrays the tranquility of nights there.
