Speaking ahead of the event, Schweisgut said: "The European Union and China both have long histories and rich cultures. We hope our 'Europe Street' event will deepen the exchange between these cultures and allow Chinese people attending the event to experience Europe right in the heart of their own capital city. So I invite all our Chinese friends to come and spend a fun and exciting day with us!"
Along with the booths of the 28 EU member states, the Delegation of the European Union to China operated an additional booth providing information on the day of the event, guiding visitors and handing out special souvenir "EU Passports", which visitors could use to collect a stamp from each booth they visitited. At the end of their journey around Europe, they could then receive a small EU gift.
