An exhibition featuring Chinese fashion development was unveiled in Singapore on March 18. The 30 showpieces were from about 25 contemporary Chinese fashion designers, including Ma Ke, Guo Pei, and Wu Haiyan.

Ma Hongying, director-general of the China Cultural Center in Singapore, Zhang Yi, assistant curator of the China National Silk Museum, Yang Beibei, curator from the China Arts and Entertainment Group, and many local artists and representatives attended the opening ceremony.

Yang in his opening speech said the works reflect the development of China in the past 30 years. The designers combined traditional Chinese folk arts and handicraft and the Western arts together and created works that mirror traditional Chinese culture.

Zhang said more studies should be conducted on how to best protect Chinese silk and textile industry.

The exhibition will run until March 28.
