Singer Li Yugang launched his latest tour in Beijing on Dec 17 at the Workers' Gymnasium to mark the 10th anniversary of his music career.
Next year, he will visit cities in China, including Shanghai, Chengdu, as well as tour abroad in cities such as Toronto, San Francisco and Sydney.
The 38-year-old Li rose to fame as an amateur in 2006 by performing on CCTV's singing competition TV show, Star Boulevard, a program for grassroots artists. He won a large fan base with his act, borrowing from the nan dan genre (males playing female roles) in Peking Opera, giving the traditional art form a modern edge by combining it with pop music.
