The southeastern part of Guizhou province, or Qiandongnan as it is often called in Chinese, is an area rich in ethnic culture. Genuine Southeast Guizhou, co-published by Citic Press and Chinese National Geography, aims to give readers a glimpse of every aspect of the ethnic groups there.

Written by a group of feature writers and ethnic-studies researchers, the Chinese-language book talks about the Miao people's batik and embroidery techniques, the Dong people's traditional grand chorus and other groups and their local customs.

The book is the latest installment in a series about the diverse local cultures in China.
