=Ten individuals from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao are among 73 recipients of this year's Asian Cultural Council fellowships, which exceed $1.2 million worldwide.

The grantees exhibit diverse creativity working in visual and performing arts and expanding cultural development in China.

Among them are Orlean Lai, a curator and producer from Hong Kong who is noted for a cross-disciplinary approach in her works; Zhaxi Wangjia, a Beijing-based Tibetan dancer and choreographer; and Qing Feng, an associate professor of architectural history and theory at Beijing's Tsinghua University.

Josephine Wai, director of ACC Hong Kong, says in a release that the fellowship program not only provides its recipients a check but also practical supports, such as advice on tailoring their time abroad for further researches.

ACC, a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York, provides fellowships and programs for cultural exchanges in arts. It has offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Manila and is funded by private donors in Asia and the United States.
