Zhou of Fresh Vogur say she was impressed with the production in 2013, when it was on tour in Europe.

With 2016 as the Canadian culture year, it is the perfect time and opportunity to bring the show to China, he says.

The Sino-Canada Year is a two-year cultural exchange program that spans 2015-16, and nouveau cirque (contemporary circuses), represented by companies such as Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Eloize, are a major highlight of Canadian culture.

Dozens of new theaters have been built in China in the past decade to satisfy the hunger from local audiences for quality shows.

"We are greatly honored to present this innovative show in 29 grand theaters in China," Zhou says.

Eight performances will take place over July 3-9 at the Shanghai Grand Theater, more than any other city in China.

According to Xu Yin, deputy general manager of the theater, the show is good family entertainment.

"It is scheduled in the summer vacation, and with the new Disneyland opening in June, we also look forward to a growing number of theatergoers from among visitors to Shanghai," says Xu.
