Chinese singer Zhang Liangying has launched a national tour, titled Bang the World, which will visit seven cities around China. The first concert will be held in Shanghai on June 27.
The 31-year-old singer shot to fame as the third-place winner of the 2005 Super Girl contest, a national singing competition broadcast by Hunan Satellite TV Station, which drew over 400 million viewers that year.
Dubbed the "dolphin princess" for her high-pitched voice, Zhang was compared to Mariah Carey by her fans. She has won more than 40 music awards, from "best female singer" to "best album".
In 2009, she appeared on Oprah Winfrey's The World's Got Talent show, and recently Paramount Pictures announced that Zhang will collaborate with American hip-hop singer Big Sean in a duet for the soundtrack of the upcoming sci-fi film Terminator Genisys. The song, Fighting Shadows, will be the promotional theme song for the fifth installment of the film franchise, which is directed by Alan Taylor and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Zhang has recorded several hits for Chinese TV series and movies. This song will mark the first time Zhang has recorded a song for an English-language film.
