Denmark's embassy reveals charm of fairy kingdom at Open Day

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of Sino-Danish bilateral relationships, the Royal Danish Embassy held the annual Open Day on May 9, with nearly 8,000 visitors from home and abroad enjoying Danish design, gastronomy, art performances and brand names.

With the theme "Small Fairy Tales, Big Future", Danish Cultural Season 2014-2015 was unveiled to the public.

Ballet dancers from the Beijing Dance Academy and the Royal Danish Ballet School showcased their talent.

Musical performances were staged, while a patrol dog from Denmark showed off its mastery of police dog tricks and detection skills.

The Danish chef John Kofod Pedersen demonstrated his New Nordic cuisine recipes and invited one visitor to come on stage to learn how to make Danish food.

Denmark’s ambassador to China, Friis Arne Petersen, said that it was an interactive day for both Danish companies and Chinese guests to share common values and lifestyles. It also introduced the Danish green economy, clean-tech solutions, qualified food, unique design and innovations to the Chinese people.

Petersen added that state leaders from Denmark and China would hold an agriculture and sustainability-themed seminar at the Great Hall of the People on May 11 for greater cooperation and to renew Sino-Danish friendship.

Two VIP salon sessions characterized by Danish high quality food, a healthy lifestyle and green development were held at the ambassador’s residence. There, senior officials, scholars and company representatives were invited to have an in-depth talk on topics related to Denmark and China.
