Year of China in South Africa set to kick off

A ceremony was also held to present the awards for best slogan and story collection competition for the Year of China in South Africa at the press conference. About 20 winners were announced from more than 1,000 competitors in South Africa.

During President Xi Jinping’s state visit to South Africa in 2013, the two state leaders agreed to designate 2014 as the Year of South Africa in China and 2015 as the Year of China in South Africa.

More than 50 events focused on South Africa, including trade seminars, art programs and educational projects, were held in China during last year’s Year of South Africa in China.
