Chongqing elects new mayor

Zhang Guoqing was elected mayor of Chongqing municipality on Thursday in a vote at the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress.
On Dec 30, the local legislature accepted the resignation of former mayor Huang Qifan, and Zhang was appointed acting mayor.
Huang, 64, worked in Shanghai before moving to Chongqing in 2001 to become deputy mayor. He was elected mayor in 2010.
