Plenary sessions since 2012
Seven plenary sessions are usually held during every five-year term of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The incumbent 18th Central Committee has held six plenaries since the Party's 18th National Congress, in 2012.

The meeting saw the election of the Central Commit-tee's Political Bureau and the bureau's Standing Committee as well as the general secretary. Nominations for members of the Central Committee Secretariat and Central Military Commission were approved.
