Atletico survives shootout scare

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone hailed his side's belief as it survived a brave effort from PSV Eindhoven to reach the Champions League quarterfinals in an agonizing penalty shootout, 8-7, on Tuesday.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock across 210 minutes of the two-legged tie.

However, Atletico was clinical from the spot, converting all of its penalties with Juanfran Torres blasting the winner after Luciano Narsingh hit the crossbar on PSV's eighth attempt.
